Doodle Care Corner

Daisy's coat is gorgeous โ€” and a lot of work. Here's what we've learned (some of it the hard way) about keeping a doodle happy, fluffy, and mat-free. No fancy expert advice, just what actually works for us.

1. Brush More Than You Think

When we first got Daisy, we didn't brush her much. Big mistake. Doodle hair mats FAST โ€” and once it's matted, the groomer may have to shave it down. Now we brush her a couple of times a week, and it's made a huge difference. Her coat stays soft, and grooming visits are way easier on everyone (including Daisy).

Quick tip: Short, regular brushing beats one big battle. A few minutes a couple times a week keeps the mats away.

2. The Groomer Is Your Friend

Daisy goes to the groomer every 4โ€“5 weeks for a trim, and gets a bath about every 2โ€“3 weeks. We keep her coat at a medium length โ€” easy to maintain, still fluffy, and it keeps her from needing a full shave-down. You can bathe a doodle at home too, but for us the groomer keeps things on track.

Quick tip: Find a groomer who knows doodles and get on a regular schedule โ€” staying ahead of it is everything.

3. Muddy Paws & Doodle Beards

Honest truth: right now our system is grabbing a kitchen towel and hoping for the best. It doesn't work great. Muddy paws and a soggy doodle beard are a daily battle, so we're testing a few products to find something better. Daisy's verdict coming soon โ€” stay tuned!

Quick tip: Wipe paws before they hit the couch. Every. Single. Time.

4. Stay Ahead of the Mats

The biggest lesson: a doodle coat needs consistent care, or it gets matted and nappy โ€” and then the only fix is shaving it all off. We'd rather keep Daisy at her medium-length fluff. Regular brushing + regular grooming = a happy doodle and a happy doodle parent.

Every doodle is different โ€” ask your groomer or vet what's best for yours. These are just the things that work for Daisy. ๐ŸŒผ
